  First entry, testing for effect.

I am Al Hedstrom, LNC(AW) retired. I was stationed at NLSO Subic Bay from October 1988 to October 1991.

We're organizing a renunion for NLSO Subic Bay, tentatively set for August 20 through 22 at the SeaTac Marriott Hotel near the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Washington.

The initial purpose of this blog is to assemble information regarding the reunion.

I anticipate three meetings, one on Fri & Sat evenings, the last a Sunday brunch. For Friday and/or Saturday we may be able to arrange tours of Submarine Base Bangor, Naval Shipyard Bremerton, or Naval Station Everett. NAS Whidbey Island is better than three hours away from the hotel, so that won't work. For the dinner on Saturday, I've requested the CO of NLSO Northwest to be our guest speaker to bring us up to date. Of course, we need more ideas on things to do - and maybe consider expanding this to a four-day event if warranted.

If we can gather 80 people, we can get rooms for $90/night. For the Marriott, that's about half price. My brother is the sous chef there, so he's trying to call markers (cumshaw).

I'm researching how to set up a non-profit to handle the money to handle the additional expenses (tours, banquest room rentals, hospitality room, etc.). Of course, Belen (almost an attorney by now - Preston, Gates, & Ellis) is trying to help.

Contact me at world_phamous at yahoo dot com if you're interested. Note the underscore in that address. Detailed information as it develops and names of participants are distributed through separate e-mail.
